how does one estimate the costs to convert to solar power his townhome association to solar & wind power?

there are 104 units

Normally, townhouse projects do not have sufficient roof space to provide anywhere near enough to replace grid. Since the system will probably never pay itself off, just figure how many you can fit on a roof, get prices, and go for it.

Realistically? Don't ask me that. I'm a pessimist. To many political problems.

Optimistically? Close to 100%. Easy. It's just a matter of will.

Is there a small solar panel available that would provide enough power to run a small space heater or fan?

I live in a townhouse and the association doesn't allow roof top solar panels or anything that is visible from the street.

I found one here that can deliver 1.25 amps at 120V. This may just run a small fan, but you would need 10 of them to run a small space heater. I guess it would be your call......... Hope this helps.

  • Thomasville company taps into solar energy

THOMASVILLE — Add a Thomasville-based company to the growing list of businesses across the area and nation tapping into the power of the sun.

Wright of Thomasville said it is nearing the completion of the installation of solar panels at the company headquarters, which will allow the business to rely on sunlight to power its production center.

Wright officials say the installation will be completed within the next 30 days. Wright provides printing for the home furnishings, mattress and carpet and rug industries.

"Our company has always been committed to environmental stewardship, be it through the inks we use or the recycling of production materials. We are now happy to add energy conservation to this list," said Greg Wright, company president and chief executive officer.

Brian E. Tully Named Executive Director of Solar Energy Trade ...

WASHINGTON, DC – The Board of Managers of Solar Energy Trade Shows, LLC (SETS) today announced that Brian E. Tully will serve as executive director. SETS is a new joint venture formed by the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) last October to produce trade shows that help advance the growing solar energy industry. Tully brings to SETS nearly three decades of experience in various levels of trade show management at the Food Marketing Institute (FMI). In that role, he oversaw the annual FMI Supermarket Industry Convention, which was consistently ranked in the top 15 U.S. trade shows. At its peak, the event reached 550,000 net square feet while hosting 1,500 exhibitors and 36,000 attendees from 120 countries. During his time at FMI, Tully also started four vertical trade shows within the retail food industry, including MarkeTechnics, a business technology event that grew to 100,000 net square feet with participation from 350 companies and 7,000 attendees. For a three-year period, Tully managed a staff that produced three annual U.S. events and one international show. As executive director, he will manage and grow SETS’ high-impact solar energy events, which include the Solar Power International and PV America conferences. Proceeds from these events will continue to be invested toward the continued growth of the U.S. solar energy market through SEIA’s and SEPA’s year-round advocacy, research and education activities. “Our effective collaboration has led to Solar Power International being the premier solar event in the country,” said Julia Hamm, executive director of SEPA. “Brian’s skills will ensure that our conferences and trade shows will continue to bring together utilities and the solar industry to further develop solar in the U.S.” Established in 1974, the Solar Energy Industries Association is the national trade association of U.S. solar energy industry. As the voice of the industry, SEIA works with its 1,000 member companies to make solar a mainstream and significant energy source by expanding markets, removing market barriers, strengthening the industry and educating the public on the benefits of solar energy.
