Yes it is possible. Many people have done it in some states. But the 300 mile range is a dream for a conversion and solar only extends your mileage slightly. You could leave parked for a week to charge up enough for a trip.

In practice you need a LOT of solar charger. Solar charger just don't put out enough current to charge them enough.

The US military is serious about reducing its dependence on traditional fuel sources . Case in point: the FED solar and hybrid Humvees that will burn 70 percent less fuel than traditional armored troop transports.
The Fuel Efficient Ground Vehicle Demonstrator (FED) is currently under development in Warren, MI by the U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Command (TARDEC) and consists of two prototypes, "FED Alpha" and "FED Bravo." The FED Alpha employs a solar panel mounted on the rear hatch to power its electrical systems, as well as a Cummins turbo-charged 4-cylinder 200-horsepower diesel engine, six-speed automatic transmission, and low-rolling resistance tires. These innovations provide the same performance as a conventional Humvee but at a 70 percent fuel savings.

According to Eltek Valere, who provided its Flatpack2 HE Solar Charger and the Flatpack2 rectifier power conversion solution to support Digicel’s roll out, the new installations are yielding significant improvements in both areas.
Digicel use to power the sites with batteries charged by diesel generations that ran all day long. The set up, which required a monthly refueling run by helicopter, was operating at an efficiency level of only 20% and at a cost of US$6 kWh. With the installation of the hybrid system and photovoltaic panels, the daily average generator run time for the sites has been reduced to just 4 hours, and efficiency of the sites have been boosted to 80%-90%, with the average costs per kWh now coming in at just US$1, according to Eltek Valere.
