We've heard CFL or other ways a light bulb can maximize its effeciency with least energy.
We've also heard solar panels improving on harnessing sun light.
BUT, are there products that directly harness solar power for the
Hybrid Solar Lighting is one technology that is used for direct solar lighting, it does not store the light but uses fiber optics to distribute the natural sunlight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQ5MiLqb5 VE

I fully believe the entire world could be run off of solar power if we had a way to store it in space and collect it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Where I live, solar power is not feasable; hydroelectric plants and wind farms are.

Super cooled liquid can be used to make superconducting electrical storage rings. They act like a giant capacitor and store power during the day when it can be obtained from the sun and then discharged at night when there is no sunlight available.
I mean, if we can install big solar collector outside earth to orbit facing to the sun, it is possible, if possible, how can our expert transfer the collected energy to the earth ?
They actually considered this like 20 -25 years ago.
The problem is getting it back to Earth.
If we focus the light beam or use micro waves and send it to collectors; We'll have to be dead on with our aim.
Can you imagine what...

A Tale of Two Energies
During a visit to the company’s plant in Fremont, California in May 2010, President Obama declared that “companies like Solyndra are leading the way toward a brighter and more prosperous future.” The Obama Administration was so enthralled that it extended Solyndra more than half a billion dollars in loan guarantees.
Today Solyndra is bankrupt, and the taxpayers are on the hook for as much as $535 million.
What went wrong? In theory, solar power sounds great. Sunlight is free, and the prospect of clean, abundant energy from solar panels is enough to fill one with a warm glow almost as bright as the sun itself.
The problem is that constructing the solar panels themselves is incredibly expensive, especially when American companies compete with lower labor costs from China. The capital costs associated with solar power makes its electricity about four times as expensive as that generated from fossil fuels.

A crowd of people in support of one of ASU’s largest sustainability projects celebrated Tuesday morning on the rooftop of the Stadium Parking Structure at the Tempe campus.
Phase I of the solar installations project, or solarization, is complete. The project allows for about 1.9 megawatts of electricity for ASU that could power about 300 Arizona homes, said Morgan Olsen, the chief financial officer for the University.
“Today we’re really celebrating the completion of ASU’s solar phase one and looking forward to about quadrupling our total megawatts of solar power in phase two,” Olsen said.
ASU will reduce its carbon footprint by around 5 million pounds of carbon dioxide because of the solar project, he said.
