What amp battery will I need to run my caravan?

Just bought a Swift Challenger Caravan. I intend to go on Caravan Club rallies and need to power the caravan for the weekend. What power solutions are there with regard to solar chargers, batteries and generators etc?


Leisure battery will stay charged for a weekend if fully charged beforehand ours keeps us going with no charge for just over a week If electric hook up available then not a problem generators are generally not allowed as they are noisy

How much power do PC,s use?

I need to run my pc and 17" lcd monitor on a 12 car battery using a 12-240v converter

Its a small ish 12v car battery

My PC has a 300w 240v power supply
My LCD monitor is 900w at 240v

Thats about 5 amps but you will use more in converting the energy to twelve volts. the S-panel will only help a little but the car battery alone would last a few hours. If the car is runniung it will recharge the battery and power the pc.

whats the most efficient way to create and store electricity while traveling and camping?

I want to go on an extended road trip around oz, and I want to be sure I have enough power in my caravan to run..... a laptop for photoshop, and a 22" monitor for my USB hdtv (5V), (9V) for my guitar pedal and headphones, and maybe a fluro...

    Not sure if your expensive solar panels are doing their job?  Here is some simple tests that you can do to determine how your solar panels are performing.

    A solar panels currency is current (measured in amps) – so you are going to need some method of measuring current. Some solar regulators have a display that will tell you how much current is coming from the solar panels at any point in time (assuming of course that the regulator has been installed correctly and that you trust this reading).

    If your regulator does not have a “Charge current reading”, you are going to need some other method of measuring this current flow.
