Please can you give me some advantages and disadvantages of solar power (solar cells and panels)? ^__^
Advantages:
-Non-polluting
-Renewable
-Low Maintenance
-It does't produce carbon dioxide
-The energy source(sun) is free
-Solar power systems do not produce any noise

what are the benefits of using solar power as an alternative energy source and also the disadvantages.
This is for a school assignment and i need the answers fairly soon.
If you could tell me how solar power works and if u...
The terms solar power and solar energy are often used synonymously but solar power usually refers to photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar thermal technologies that convert sunlight into electricity. In the case of solar PV, the process is...
I've already been working on this for a while so please don't yell at me for trying to get all the answers for my hw :)
I need to think of at least 2 advantages and 2 disadvatages of solar power. I've got 1 advantage... that there...
Advantages:
1) Completely environmentally friendly; no pollutants are released when the energy is generated.
2) Renewable. The sun is going to last longer than we are.
Disadvantages:
1) Solar panels take up a LOT
and hydroelectric, geothermal and wind turbines..
lol @ went to school
Solar power, hydroelectric, geothermal, and wind energy are very clean and and equally important renewable source of energy.
The advantages are the green factor and renewable sources. Also I believe that a shift toward these types...
and what the cost of them.
Very expensive. Have very little power. Forget about headlights and AC because solar is not practical and never will be and is only for gimmicks and hobbies. Obama talks about it a lot but hes just playing on people's ignorance to sound sool....
Thanks but Nuclear Energy is not a sustainable energy source. There is a finite amount of Uranium, it will run out quickly.
Environmental issues are important and sustainable energy is high on that list.
However, for it to move from a philosophical discussion to practical mass applications every one needs to be involved. The masses talk the talk but do not walk...
3 Green Energy Money Pits
&Nbsp; ) have made us rethink the automobile and how it is built. But some of the worst investments in the industry are being made in the battery space.
A123 Systems in particular has played a good hand far too strongly and is now facing mounting losses and disappointing sales from its most important customer , Fisker . And things are even worse at Ener1 , which may not survive much longer.
The problem isn't technological or in the products themselves. By all indications, A123 makes a fine battery. The problem was how fast A123 and the electric vehicle market envisioned itself ruling the world.
When EVs first came onto the scene, analysts had a field day predicting how many EVs would be on the road in the near future. One Berkley study predicted 64% of U.S. light-vehicle sales would be EVs by 2030, and Zpryme predicted sales would be 203,200 vehicles in 2016 alone. When faced with those predictions, management and investors got big eyes and loaded their plates with as much capacity as possible. But like grandma always warned me, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, and the market hasn't come close to eating up the growing supply of batteries.
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Energy
Everywhere you turn, from TV or advocacy groups to the Obama administration, people are talking about solar power. What causes all of this interest in solar power? There are a number of advantages that excite so many people, but there are also a few disadvantages that you should know about. If you have some knowledge and are willing to put in some work yourself, most of the disadvantages can be overcome.
Advantages
Never-ending source of energy
Because solar energy is produced by the sun, there is an infinite supply. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty-two weeks of the year the sun is producing energy. While solar power will continue to be available as long as the sun keeps shining, there is a limited supply of fossil fuels like oil and natural gas. As fossil fuels become more and more scarce, the cost will continue to go up. The opposite is true of solar power! It will never run out and the cost will continue to go down as technology gets better and better.
