Question about energy policy and politics?

Democrats (mostly) in Congress complain that the President doesn't have a credible energy policy. I personally don't know whether he does or not because the whole issue is far too complex for me .

But I feel pretty certain that...

I agree. Few if any politicians have the technical backgrounds to understand energy policy. In fact most lack the background to even be intelligent consumers of information on the subject.

Apollo Missions Power Supply?

Where did the Apollo spacecrafts get there energy for lights and other computers. Did they use solar? was solar around during Apollo 1?
How fast was the average apollo spacecraft?

They used fuel cells. Fuel cells combine hydrogen and oxygen to make electricity and they have been proposed as a power source for electric cars. But they are way too expensive for such common use.

Should humans leave Earth to colonize other places in the solar system?

I don't understand why the space program isn't priority number one. Using "helium 3" deposits on the Moon, we can eventually solve most of the world's energy problems. There is no shortage of building material in space. We can mine...

I'm just curious...what led you to believe that the next frontier isn't already being explored?.....of course it's being explored....that's why we have a space program in the first place. You are right though....as far as where we've advanced up...

It sounds like they are putting some effort into the planning. While the dollar amount spread over that many years is not even a drop in the bucket, it is a step in the right direction for mankind to return to exploration of space.

The Physics Behind a Space craft?

For my physics class we watched Apollo 13 about the astronauts coming ~137 miles off the moons surface and failing to land. Now, We've been asked to write a paper on the motion of a space craft that leaves earth towards any planet in our solar...

Start from the beginning :P

When a rocket takes off, it expels burning gasses (in Apollo's case hydrogen and oxygen) downward, this produces a thrust upward (Newton's 3rd law), overcoming the rocket's gravitational weight (Newton's 1st

Do You Think It Will Be Our Extinction And The End Of The World And The Ice Caps Will Melt?

The oceans will flood?

And we will all die… if we don’t build wind turbines, put solar panels on our houses, and drive around in ethanol cars... or ride bicycles, and support a new energy grid, and a three trillion dollar energy...

My summer has been cold, in comparison to other summer’s here in New England. I don’t believe in man-made global warming, because there are too many flaws in that kind of thinking. I believe that warming trends are due to the sun’s increased...

Solamon Energy adds new senior executive; company expands into Cayman Islands

While working in South Korea, Kuiack was presented the Distinguished Reporter Award by the former Prime Minister (Park Geun Hye) on behalf of the Hanvit Welfare Association, a Korean non-government organization focused on the historical and present treatment of those affected by Hansen’s Disease (leprosy).

Originally from Canada, Kuiack, now re-located in Georgetown, will report to Solamon President Jay Yeo and is set to focus on delivering solar array projects in the 2MW range.  “We understand this will involve engaging government and business leaders in a healthy discussion about helping them transition the Caymans away from its oil-dependency to an independent economy fueled by renewable resources,” Yeo adds, “and this is why Steve is a perfect fit and, given our success together, we’ll continue to build a sustainable energy model for communities in the future.”

At each of these three institutions, Mr. Renyi Hou, CEO of Apollo Solar, gave presentations of Apollo Solar's tellurium (Te) mines and reported the results of their latest mining investigations. Based on new geographic explorations, new Te sediment deposition layers were found. Mr. Hou estimates that Apollo Solar's tellurium (Te) production capacity will increase dramatically.
