Coalition for Affordable Solar Energy urges SolarWorld to withdraw PV trade ...
On December 20th, 2011 the Coalition for Affordable Solar Energy (CASE) sent a letter to SolarWorld Industries Americas Inc. (Hillsboro, Oregon, U.S.) urging it to withdraw the petition it filed to the U.S. International Trade Commission and Department of Commerce.
CASE states that if the petition leads to high tariffs on solar photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules it will cause great damage to the U.S. solar industry, and that the trade case could also lead to a trade war with China.
"The severe tariffs SolarWorld seeks would have a very damaging effect on the solar industry in the United States and would fundamentally undermine many years of effort by all of us who care about the future of solar power," stated CASE President Jigar Shah in the letter to SolarWorld Industries Americas President Gordon Brinser.
