About how large an area of solar cells would be needed to produce 2kWe of output power at noon on a clear day?



Taking a look at the spec sheet linked below, the panel is about 6 1/2 feet by 3 1/4 feet, and produces 270 watts peak. That means you'd get 225 watts or so under realistic conditions, so you'd need perhaps 8 or 9 of these.

What kind of wires do I use if I want to build a solar car?

I've been following this site
http://www.xof1.com/educationmini.html but its not very clear on what wires I should use to connect the solar cells. Could someone please tell me?


In this case any plastic insulated hookup wire will be adequate. Use the wires on the solar panels if they have them as a guide for how big they need to be.

In a full sized car the wires should be rated to carry the maximum current...

Other than the silicon, gallium arsenide, clear plastics etc... that the solar cells are made out off there must be something else on the panels. Anyone know? I'm especially interested in materials that are harmful to the environment
