why all solar panels must transmit energy to a battery first?

and Not direct to the device¡?
the clearer question 10 points! thanks!

Actually it is not a must.

What happens is that most of the time the voltage/current output of a solar panels is not suitable for most devices (most devices at home use AC power and solar panel produces only DC power) or you need a...

I just hooked up my first solar panel today...?

I just hooked up my first solar panel today and it worked perfectly and started charging the battery system like a charm.

If you could hook up a small solar panel in or near your home, what would you do with it?

A small solar panel can power a small light but if the sun is shining I don't need the light.

I'd use it to keep the batteries on my tracktor and extra cars topped off.

DC electric wiring battery solar voltage help?

If I have (6) 12 volt batteries wired in series for a total of 72volts. I am thinking about buying a solar charger that is 18 - 24 volts. Do I have to have 3 of these solar panels wired in series to charge the batteries? What will happen if I...

When a panel says 18 volts out, that's the most you'll get out of it. So if you connect it to 72 volts, either no current will flow, or worse, current will flow the wrong way.

I suspect the panel you have in mind is very low power....

has anyone run machine tools off of solar/battery power?

i'm interested in running my soon to have metal lathe off of solar power but i dont know the first thing about it. has anyone done this / have tips for a newb considering going green with machine tools?

im curious, i'd like to see...

Solar and green does not work out. You have been sold a lie by solar companies. A solar cell takes more energy to make than it will put out in it's life time.

On the other hand solar makes great remote power. Running a lathe on...

Connecting solar battery to APC UPS?

Hello.

I have APC back UPS BE650Y-IN (Model: http://www.apc.com/products/category.cfm ?id=13&segmentID=1
select BE650Y-IN from first pulldown menu to see the specification). Its battery is dead now.

The 12v battery in the APC UPS and the 12v 55 Ahr battery in your other link are the same voltage and share the same chemistry. The main problem you will encounter is cooling. The APC inverter normally only needs to run a few minutes or until it's...

  • Traction battery markets forecasted at $55 billion in 10 years

A comprehensive report details assessments and forecasts for all business sectors using and likely to use traction batteries. Chapters deal with heavy industrial, light industrial and commercial, mobility for the disabled, pure electric cars, hybrid cars, golf cars, military, marine, and others. Many pictures, diagrams, and tables pulls the subject together to give an independent view of the next ten years. Unit sales, unit prices, and total market value are forecast for each sector for 2010 to 2020. The replacement market is quantified and ten year technology trends by sector are in there too, with a view on winning and losing technologies and companies. This is the essential reference, say authors, for those who are anywhere in the hybrid and pure electric vehicle value chain. Those making materials, cells, battery sets or vehicles, researchers, legislators and market analysts will find it invaluable.

    Battery Company Stocks

As cleantech continues to entrench itself in the energy world, much more attention will be placed on the battery sector.

The need for advanced batteries has always been glaringly apparent. How else are we to get solar energy at night or wind energy without a breeze?

But until now, there really hasn't been enough clean energy capacity to worry about storage. Not only that, but capital requirements for clean energy projects have been so high that adding a storage system has been considered a luxury.

If intermittent sources of clean power are ever to account for a significant percentage of the global mix, batteries will have to take center stage.

And that's just the clean energy case for batteries.
