what is the diffrence between a solar panel charge controller and a wind turbine controller?

they both charge a 12v or bank of 12v batteries? i have built my turbine but confused on what controller to use?thanks


lets start with basics

the solar power supplies DC and it is running all morning, the power it supplies not as much as the wind turbine so the controller and the power it supplies mostly constant becasue the sun changes slowly

Is a charge controller needed with a 400w wind turbine system with no batteries or just a power inverter?

I am setting up a wind turbine system that only has a 400w wind turbine. I am going to make it a tie in and will not have a battery system to save power. Do i need a charge controller or is only having the power inverter enough

Do you mean grid tie?

Inverters work with a fixed DC voltage like 12 or 24 volts. The output of your generator will be varying with wind speed, so you need something in between to adjust the voltage driving the inverter.

You should certainly use a charge controller as the charge current is likely to be varying considerably, and you will need some mechanism that will reduce charging as the battery fills.

i have a a wind and solar energy hybrid controller for my small 12V wind turbine, please can some one tell me do i connect inverter to this controller where it says 'output' or what?? becuase i dont know what this last 'output' plugs are for?????...


The output side is where the power comes out so that is where you'd connect the inverter.

    I’ve moaned like many at our negativity away from home but have always been safe in the knowledge that at the Bearpit, it was a different story… until this season. It seems Pulis’ new thing is playing just one winger and setting up so negatively you’d think we were preparing ourselves for a match at the Camp Nou. There certainly wouldn’t be an issue with the weather there, unlike the windswept Britannia which seemingly prompted Pulis to drop Palacios, the decision was ludicrous, admitting it, even worse.

    Sadly the respite of our home form is a thing of the past and it’s a case of one step forward and two back as we finally strung together some acceptable performances on the road only to see our displays at the Brit take a turn for the worse, it’s infuriating and even worse, every Stoke fan there knew how it could so easily be remedied. It was a sorry state of affairs with a fit and willing Pennant and Wilkinson kicking their heels once more on the bench and Palacios doing the same having been dropped from the squad altogether, the club even put him in a box such was their concern for his wellbeing out in the elements.

    Making the parts

    We started building the turbine before the trip. This way, we were able to make all the complex components (especially the blades) in a known environment with all the required tools and comfort. This was a rather good move since this spared a lot of work in Ecuador and allowed us to use tools that were not available down there (mainly power tools such as jig saws, belt sander, and of course the Dremel).
