Does anyone know where I could find a Solar Charge controller specs: 12v - 1amp?
Clearance Closeup.

I have tried Frys and they don't seem to have it does anyone know where else I could find this charge controller?

You can get one that's a little bigger that will work on a smaller solar panel, they are rated by their maximum capability. I assume you have around a 15W solar panel. A 4.5A charge controller is only $29 and would work great....

Solar Charge Controller?
Charging

I am experimenting and I am considering getting a 30 Watt panel which puts out 1.8 Amps and I found an inexpensive charge controller rated for 5 Amps.

Will the 1.8 max output of the panel be too little for the 5 Amp charge...

You should not have a problem with this. The controller will disconnect the battery when it is fully charged and leave it disconnected until the battery voltage drops.

I've designed a shunt regulator for a wind generator system I'm...

what is the diffrence between a solar panel charge controller and a wind turbine controller?
Level is good.

they both charge a 12v or bank of 12v batteries? i have built my turbine but confused on what controller to use?thanks

lets start with basics

the solar power supplies DC and it is running all morning, the power it supplies not as much as the wind turbine so the controller and the power it supplies mostly constant becasue the sun changes slowly

How do exactly solar charge controllers work?
Totally wired.

I've been reading and reading online about solar projects and so on... But one thing puzzles my mind is when u have a charge controller that has a shut off what voltage will it supply to whatever is using the power? I mean what range of voltage...

A charge controller monitors the battery's state-of-charge to insure that when the battery needs charge-current it gets it, and also insures the battery isn't over-charged. Charge controllers are rated based on the amount of amperage they can...

Solar charge Controller question?
Suitable Wood.

If I have a charge controller that is 5A. What is this going to mean? Is it mean that it only support up to 5 amperes of current from solar panel?

Sdas, that is quite right. You have a very small charge controller, and the primary rating on them is the amps that they can safely handle. We have a solar and wind system here that we've been running almost 10 years now. Originally we put in a...

  • $120 12 volt Solar System

A quick overview of my new solar system. The heart of the system is the 20 watt solar panel, hooked up to an 8 amp charge controller. I use the system to run a small dc fan daily and charge my various different storage batteries. The whole system was very affordable (not costing more than $120) and was very easy to piece together. This is not my first solar system, but the first that I built myself. Most of the parts came from ebay at very good prices. I started the system with a limited knowledge of solar, but thanks to what I’ve learned from various different websites, including videos from youtube, building it was easy. Later on I plan to make a series of videos to show the systems performance and also how you can build your own solar system for cheap. Check back for more updates soon!
