ps: i have two 165w solar panels and two 6v golf cart batteries, i need a charger controller :)


I see that you are not getting many responses. This may not be the best area to ask this question. Most of these guys are more into theoretical engineering.

    Solar charge controllers are necessary for virtually all solar power systems that involve the use of batteries. Solar charge controllers work to control the power as it moves from the solar panels to the batteries.     Although there are several different types of charge controllers, their common basic function is to end the charging process once the voltage in a battery reaches a certain level. In early charge controllers, this was accomplished with the use of a mechanical relay.

    In more recent charge controllers, pulse width modulation (PWM) is used to gradually lower the amount of power provided to the batteries as they get closer to a fully charged state. PWM is more efficient, as it charges the batteries more fully, as well as reducing stress on them. It can also keep batteries in a completely charged state, or “floating,” indefinitely. PWM also has the added benefit of not using any breakable mechanical connections.
