Do i need speed controller (brake) and charging controller for homemade wind turbine?

I made a wind turbine using car alternator(mico company 14v, 43A, rated rpm 1500) with 1:10 gearing and 10’ diameter wooden blade. The alternator does not produce power without connectind batteries and it has inbuilt voltage regulator (cut...

An alternator differs from a generator in that an alternator generates AC power rather than DC. With an automobile alternator, rectifiers and a voltaage regulator are integrated to change the AC power into DC power at a voltage level suitable for a

Solar Charge Controller 7 AMP 12 VOLT 100 WATTS

12vdc solar panels + batteries = Help?

OK here is my idea that i am in to far to back out but am running into the lack of knowledge. I searched for the info and cant find any. Info

First I have built two 15v 52watt solar panels that run into five 12vdc 55ah Sealed Lead...

here is the real answer have you run out of power?
are you off the grid?
remember that the amp hr is an average you will not get the solar production every day.
some days will be more (summer) some will be less (winter or...

how do you install external voltage regulator on 91 dodge dakota with v8engine?

I heard you could do this instead of replacing engine controller to get the alternator to charge the battery. You install old style ford regulator but I don't know what the wiring should be. any help appreciated

In my experience's the ignition swith is usually the culprit if a battery will not charge and the alternator is putting out current at the source. I wouldn't even attempt to do what you are suggesting!

I would like to make a capacitor bank to charge in the shortest time possible and discharge slowly.?

I would like the bank to charge to a minimum of 15V and give a continuous output, through a regulator maybe, of 6V. This would be used to power a small micro-controller, maybe 3V, and a couple of motors, hopefully smaller or equal to 6V. I am...

What you are not telling us is the charge time, and the time it has to operate with no recharge. But I suspect that rechargeable batteries would be a lot smaller and cheaper than capacitors.

Also, that bit about the caps charging...

How do I hook up a Solar panel to a fountain?

I made a solar panel, it gives out 21 volts in the sun, 16 in cloud cover. I have a 200 watt power inverter and a small fountain that plugs into the power inverter.

What do I need before the panel hooks up to the power inverter,...

I don't think you can do it without using a battery. The battery is about the only way to use the varying DC voltage received from the panels via the charge controller. The battery can then produce a more constant 12-14 volts DC to the inverter....

Hey Math, the only way to get your fountain to work directly on your panel is to find a DC pump that runs at a voltage below your panels voltage, but at about the same amperage as your panel. They sell kits that do this in solar catalogs, with a...

  • US Inquiry of MF Global Gains Speed

Authorities had expected to interview Ms. O’Brien last month. She instead balked at meeting voluntarily, asking first to strike a deal with criminal authorities that would excuse her from prosecution, the people said. The criminal investigation is led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and federal prosecutors in Chicago and Manhattan.

The request by Ms. O’Brien is the first in this case, one person briefed on the investigation said. Still, such requests are common in federal investigations and it does not suggest that she violated Wall Street regulations. Ms. O’Brien has not been accused of any wrongdoing, and there is no indication that she intentionally transferred customer money to JPMorgan.
