Does anyone know where I could find a Solar Charge controller specs: 12v - 1amp?

I have tried Frys and they don't seem to have it does anyone know where else I could find this charge controller?

You can get one that's a little bigger that will work on a smaller solar panel, they are rated by their maximum capability. I assume you have around a 15W solar panel. A 4.5A charge controller is only $29 and would work great....

what is the diffrence between a solar panel charge controller and a wind turbine controller?

they both charge a 12v or bank of 12v batteries? i have built my turbine but confused on what controller to use?thanks

lets start with basics

the solar power supplies DC and it is running all morning, the power it supplies not as much as the wind turbine so the controller and the power it supplies mostly constant becasue the sun changes slowly

MPPT solar charge controller.?

What are the components required to build an MPPT charge controller to charge a 12v Battery?
I know i might need some DC-DC conversion but i am not sure which?
I read on the internet that i need to use an inverter(DC/AC) and then use...

An MPPT charger is a non-trivial design. The idea is that you sample the input voltage and current several times a second, and continuously adjust the operating point to get maximum power transfer from the panel. This would mean that you charge...

solar panel 12V 20 Watts.....what battery / charge controller amperage would be sufficient/best?

I have a 12 V ..20 watt solar panel running a 12 v 15 watt fish pond pump ,I want to connect a battery between the two for continues running ,what would be the best size battery (amps ) and what sort of charge controller would be best ,thanks

If you are running the 15W pump continuously, the 20W solar panel won't be big enough. 15W x 24 hours = 360 watt hours (wh). Since the solar panel is generating electricity only during sunny hours, it can't keep up. Let's use 5 sun hours as an...

Do any of you know where to find any schematics for a 12v charge controller?

Its for solar.

Brandon,

You need to be more specific as there are a lot of different brands of 12 volt charge controllers. (Blue Sky Energy, Morningstar, SunSaver, etc) With that being said there is a company I know called Sun Electronics who's...

  • NXP Demonstrates Groundbreaking Solar Street Lighting Solution

Co-developed with Philips Lighting, Solar Gen2 delivers 98% power conversion efficiency between panel and battery

NXP Semiconductors N.V. recently announced that it has developed an innovative, sustainable and highly efficient solar-powered street lighting solution, together with Philips Lighting. The groundbreaking Solar Gen2 solution, which NXP is demonstrating this week at CES 2012 (booth CP8), could have a major impact on energy consumption in urban areas at night. By charging street lamps during daylight hours, the new solar-powered solution from Philips Lighting and NXP can supplement the capacity of the conventional electricity grid, saving money and reducing CO2 emissions.

Another point on Inverters: Modified Sin Wave is usually just a straight square wave. This is as simple as using a 60Hz timer to switch polarity back and forth. That’s why these inverters can be produced dirt cheap. Pure sin wave inverters are much fancier but their cleaner power will mean motors will run using less power. For toasters, ovens, and other resistive loads, modified sin wave should work nearly just as well! Fantastic video all in all. Keep it up, Rojas!

Dan says deep cycle batteries are designed to be totally drained. The truth is that they are designed to withstand a heavy drain better than others. You should never completely drain a battery. If you want to optimize the life of any lead-acid battery, you shouldn’t drain it below 50%. So however much storage capacity you think you need, double that for your battery array, and then avoid draining it. Your batteries will last for a LOT of years this way.

An external charge controller (not shown) can be added for quick solar charges needed in heavily shaded areas. You can use up to a 50 ft extension cord before voltage becomes a problem. Great solution for larger yards far from power.
