You can get one that's a little bigger that will work on a smaller solar panel, they are rated by their maximum capability. I assume you have around a 15W solar panel. A 4.5A charge controller is only $29 and would work great....

what is the diffrence between a solar panel charge controller and a wind turbine controller?

they both charge a 12v or bank of 12v batteries? i have built my turbine but confused on what controller to use?thanks


lets start with basics

the solar power supplies DC and it is running all morning, the power it supplies not as much as the wind turbine so the controller and the power it supplies mostly constant becasue the sun changes slowly

    Another point on Inverters: Modified Sin Wave is usually just a straight square wave. This is as simple as using a 60Hz timer to switch polarity back and forth. That’s why these inverters can be produced dirt cheap. Pure sin wave inverters are much fancier but their cleaner power will mean motors will run using less power. For toasters, ovens, and other resistive loads, modified sin wave should work nearly just as well! Fantastic video all in all. Keep it up, Rojas!

    Dan says deep cycle batteries are designed to be totally drained. The truth is that they are designed to withstand a heavy drain better than others. You should never completely drain a battery. If you want to optimize the life of any lead-acid battery, you shouldn’t drain it below 50%. So however much storage capacity you think you need, double that for your battery array, and then avoid draining it. Your batteries will last for a LOT of years this way.
